The practice runs weekly anticoagulation monitoring clinics for patients on warfarin. These are held on Monday at Eastry and Wednesday and Friday at Sandwich.
Please speak to your GP if you are taking warfarin and would prefer to be monitored at the practice.
The practice offers the full range of immunisations for babies and children.
This service is led by Dr Healy in conjunction with our nurse practitioner Laura Monk.
Baby clinics are held on Mondays at Sandwich. Please ask for an appointment.
Health visitors are allocated to children based on the area in which they live. The health visitor attached to the Practice is Debbie Deveson and she can be contacted on 01304 873564.
Access is available to the NHS chiropody service for diabetic patients or those with a clinical need. Please ask your GP for a referral if you have a problem.
We offer advice on all forms of contraception, oral, barrier and long-acting methods such as the coil and injections. Please ask for an appointment with one of our practice nurses to discuss your needs.
We also offer young people advice under the “C Card” scheme, please just present at reception and we will arrange for you to see a member of the practice team as soon as possible for immediate advice.
All patients with diabetes should see our practice nurse for regular blood tests and lifestyle advice.
In addition to this regular screening the nurse can arrange for patients with diabetes to be seen by a dietician and if required a chiropodist.
She will also enrol patients with diabetes in the Paula Carr eye screening service which checks patients with diabetes for retinal changes.

All patients with heart disease should see our practice nurse for regular blood tests and life style advice. The nurse is available on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Ante-natal clinics are run by the community midwife with a doctor available when required. They take place on Wednesday mornings in Sandwich.
If you are planning a pregnancy, we recommend that Folic Acid tablets - 400 micrograms are taken, ideally before conception, until the twelfth week of pregnancy. These are available over the counter from the pharmacy.
Post-natal checks are done at 6 weeks after delivery.
The first Well Baby check is done at approximately 8 weeks in conjunction with the practice nurse.
These clinics are on Monday afternoons in Sandwich - please book in advance.
The doctors have a keen interest in procedures which can be undertaken in the treatment room. Many "lumps & bumps" can be dealt with by freezing with liquid nitrogen or by excision under local anaesthesia - avoiding the need for hospital referral. Some inflamed joints are suitable for injection.

Mrs Stephanie Healy MCSP SRP provides physiotherapy clinics at both surgeries. Clinics are held on Monday at Eastry and on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Sandwich.
If you have a problem, please ask for an appointment with your GP to discuss a referral.
Patients with severe respiratory obstruction or asthma may see the practice nurse for spirometry testing or an asthma check as appropriate on any day.

Access to NHS psychological therapies is available at both sites. The University Medical Practice hold clinics in Sandwich and Eastry. If you are struggling to cope and feel that you would benefit from some support, please speak to your GP who will refer you into this service.
The practice now offers appointments for ultrasound examinations at the Market Place Surgery. These are arranged by referral from your GP and are held on alternate Wednesday afternoons.
Some examinations will still need to be carried out in a hospital setting but your GP will discuss this with you when planning your care.
Hearbase is an NHS hearing aid provider contracted to provide services in the locality. They operate a clinic from Market Place Surgery every other Wednesday. You can be referred to this service by your GP.
